The relationship between Thiamidol and tyrosinase
Thiamidol is also a tyrosinase inhibitor. Like all resorcinol-based whitening agents, Thiamidol is also a tyrosinase inhibitor. And if we want to understand whitening clearly, we must first understand tyrosinase.
Currently, it is known that there are three types of melanin in the human body: eumelanin, pheomelanin, and neuromelanin. Neuromelanin has nothing to do with the skin, so we generally only discuss eumelanin and pheomelanin. Melanin is a defense mechanism developed during the evolution of life to avoid damage to the body from sunlight, inflammation, etc. The main functions are antioxidant, free radical scavenging (melanin contains many conjugated groups and polyphenol structures, and has a good ability to annihilate free radicals), and radiation protection (melanin can increase the survival rate and repair ability under X-rays and nuclear radiation) ), thermal regulation, etc. The structure of melanin is extremely complex, and people have not fully understood it yet. Only some of the groups contained in melanin are known through disassembly.
The current mainstream understanding of the melanin production pathway is the Raper-Mason pathway: the biosynthesis of melanin (eumelanin) begins with tyrosine, which is oxidized by oxygen or catalyzed by tyrosinase to form levodopa. These subunits interact and may assemble into multimers and stacks of planar tetramers, pentamers, or hexamers, and these secondary structures aggregate to form larger amorphous structures. Phaeomelanin is synthesized in the presence of cysteine or glutathione and levodopa under the action of tyrosinase.
Although the true structure of melanin and its synthesis process in the body are not yet fully understood, the role of tyrosinase in the production of melanin is unquestionable. How powerful is Peptide Amido as the most powerful whitening agent?

The IC50 value (concentration that inhibits half of the enzyme activity) of peptide amine midon on hTyr is 1.1uM (uM is the unit of molar concentration, representing umol/L), which shows that it can strongly inhibit the activity of hTyr, but only weakly inhibit mTyr (IC50 Value is 108uM). Judging from the hTyr inhibition data alone, the activity of peptide amine middot is 20 times that of 4-butylresorcinol and 120 times that of 377. Of course, Beiersdorf also conducted skin model testing, which showed that peptide amine midol is 15 times more powerful than 4-butylresorcinol and 450 times more powerful than kojic acid.
The effect of peptide Amido on chloasma
In 2019, Beiersdorf compared 0.2% peptidamide with 2% hydroquinone (hydroquinone is the gold standard for the treatment of chloasma). The effect of peptidamine was very obvious, regardless of low ultraviolet or ultraviolet radiation. PIH causes dark marks on the skin after the skin is exposed to trauma or inflammation, which greatly affects the appearance. The specific cause of PIH is currently unknown. Simply using anti-inflammatory ingredients cannot prevent the occurrence of pigmentation.
Peptidemidol can inhibit human tyrosinase activity very efficiently and is also used by Beiersdorf to treat post-inflammatory pigmentation. According to the results of the article, the same use of 0.2% peptidamine can effectively improve the pigmentation caused by acne, and obvious effects can be seen in the second week. In addition, 0.1% concentration of peptidamine is used clinically to reduce the appearance of age spots.
Safety of Peptide Amido
Beiersdorf compared its effect with hydroquinone. Peptidemidol can quickly reduce melanin production in melanocytes, and then remove the effect. Melanin production will quickly recover, but the cells affected by hydroquinone cannot return to their original activity.
